Do You You Tube?

I had really never paid much attention to the You Tube  Internet website before, but I’ve recently been playing Veggie Tales video clips for my 2-year-old-grandson, who really likes Bob and Larry (they are a talking and singing tomato and a cucumber, respectively, for those of you unfamiliar with this wildly popular children’s series).

I did a quick search on the “Civil War” and hundreds of video clips came up on You Tube. Narrowing the focus to “Gettysburg,” there were all kinds of selections, from clips from the 1993 Ron Maxwell movie to home-made junk of little value.

I decided to type in “Civil War wargaming,” and was quite surprised when a few representative videos appeared. One of the more interesting ones is an amateur video of the Battle of Harwood Church. Have a look – some of these figures are very nicely painted. The gaming table is rather spartan, but the idea of taping your wargaming layout and sharing it with the world is a very interesting concept!

If any of you JR gamers have similar videos of your games uploaded on the web, let me know and I will share the link!

Here is the Battle of Harwood Church on video.
