JR3 gaming at Peninsula Campaigns 2008 convention!

Tom Bryant of HMGS-Great Lakes e-mailed me to let me know that plans are firming for the 2008 edition of the annual Peninsula Campaigns wargaming convention, which will be held on August 2 at the Best Western – Hospitality Inn in Kalamazoo, Michigan. There will be a 15mm ACW game conducted by Joe LePard, a long-time member of the Johnny Reb Gaming Society, so, if you are in the region, make plans to stay local this summer and attend this convention and roll some dice!

Doors open at 8 a.m. The first gaming session runs from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., with the second session from 2 until 6 p.m. A third session will be held in the evening from 7 until 11. The dealer area will be open from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Among the merchants expected to come are Dean Rapp from Battlefield Creations (15mm Flames of War merchandise) and Dave Winfree of I-94 Enterprises. A flea market / “bring and buy” session will be held also from 9 until roughly 6.  Dealer tables are still available at $20 per table, and flea market tables are only $5.

Among the games are a Check Your Six! aerial warfare game, as well as a demo for new players to try out these interesting rules. Gamemaster Tod Kershner will be running a 25mm American Revolution (AWI) event that takes place in the New York frontier (my sixth-great-grandfather, Moses Mingus, was involved in the fighting in that area). As mentioned, Joe LePard will be running an ACW game, and many other GMs will present their scenarios for various gaming periods and genres.

For more information, contact Convention Director Tom Bryant at pencamps@gmail.com. Admission is only $10 for a full day of entertainment, fellowship, and gaming, and kids under 12 get in for half price! The hotel is located at 3640 E. Cork Street in Kalamazoo. The hotel’s phone numbers are (269) 381-1900 and (800) 528-1234. Tom can be reached at (231) 799-0149.

Directions: From I-94, take Exit 80 and drive to the intersection of Sprinkle and Cork. Take Cork Street west for 1/2 a block, and the hotel is on the left. Parking is free!
